'Leave the School to apply your knowledge and skills'
Work placements are an integral part of our pedagogy.
A work placement is a training period outside the school, during which you are to apply your skills and adapt to real-life situations. It gives you therefore an opportunity to discover the professional world but also yourself ! When a company wishes to recruit a new person, young graduates with varied experience, and especially an international experience, are very much in demand.
The ESA Group offers several types of work placements to students from partner institutions:
- Work placements over the summer vacation or at the occasion of a study period within an exchange programme. - Works placements within the frame of a degree course.
Summer work placements on a French farm or company : come and discover French agriculture and food industry.
More than 90 placements are organized each summer! They are organized in link with our foreign partner institutions. Duration: 1 to 3 months To go on a work placement for a few months on a French farm or in a French company is the ideal stepping-stone to a subsequent study period or a degree course at the ESA Group. Such an experience can help you get the command of French required to attend classes and also to discover French culture.
As far as this is possible for us, the students selected by their home institutions are placed on farms or in companies according to their wishes (dairy, pig or horticultural farms, market gardening, food industry…). On a farm, they can stay full-board with the family during their placement, sharing in all the farm activities as well as family life.
The ESA Group organizes and monitors these placements. On their arrival in Angers, the group of foreign students attend a day-long presentation of the French agricultural system and are given information on the placement. At the end of the placement, another two-day session is organized in Angers when they can give feedback on their experience and share comments and opinions. They are requested to write a report to describe the farm or the company and the activities they took part in.
Work placements at the occasion of a study period within an exchange programme.
Foreign students studying at ESA within the European Socrates exchange programme or a bilateral agreement can go on a placement before or after the study period. Students are supposed to look for a placement by themselves with the help of the ESA Group teachers: they will receive advice for their CVs, letters of motivation, choosing the companies to get in touch with.
