In 80% of cases, there is no recombination. It means that the parent transmits the chromosome AB or the chromosome ab with the frequency of ½ each. In 20% of cases, there is recombination. It means that there is a crossover between the two chromosomes (cf figure below) to produce germ cells with alleles aB or AB or Ab or ab with the frequency of ¼.
