Vitamin requirements
In dairy cows nutrition importance is given to the fat-soluble vitamins, the water soluble ones being synthesized by the rumen microflora.
Vitamin A
The establishment of the necessary vitamin A is difficult, depending on species, breed, age, diverse applications, and operating system. The A provitamins are found in high proportions in green forages, in harvested grass before flowering, carrots, in high quality silage. Meals, dried beet pulp, concentrates are low in carotene. Mixed feed for dairy cows will be supplemented with synthesis vitamin A through premixes. The need for vitamin A is recommended to be of 3200-5500 IU / kg DM of ration. Deficiency of vitamin A can lead to a decrease in milk content of this vitamin, as well as a reduction in digestion and absorption.
Vitamin D
Vitamin D is involved in intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphorus and calcium deposition in bones. Vitamin D deficiency causes osteomalacia, milk fever, a hypocalcemic tetany. The need for vitamin D ranges between 550 and 1000 IU / kg DM of ration.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E is a natural antioxidant, being involved in the metabolism of glucose of some fatty acids or amino acids, gonadotropic hormones, vitamins A and D, as well as for immunity. The need for vitamin E ranges between 15 and 20 IU / kg DM of ration.
