Clémence Lesimple associate professor in the USC URSE research unit at Ecole Supérieure des Agricultures (ESA) in Angers (France). During her PhD she investigated the impact of housing conditions and riding practices and horses’ behaviour and welfare in riding schools as well as the subsequent impact on the human-horse relationship. She is specialised in animal welfare and behaviour. In the USC URSE, she oversees the research area on animal welfare in production systems, with a particular emphasis on poultry and ruminants. She also investigates the impact of breeding conditions (feeding, housing…) on animal behaviour. She aims at developing a multidimensional approach of animal welfare in breeding systems in a One Health / One Welfare perspective. She is in charge of teaching animal welfare at different levels (from NHD to engineer) and generalities around health and reproduction in licence and bachelor
