The program
Formerly part of the Propre Paysage & Ecologie unit, the team of researchers in landscape ecology have joined the BAGAP (Biodiversité, Agroécologie et Aménagement des Paysages – Biodiversity, Agroecology and Landscape Management) Mixed Reseach Unit on 1 January 2017, for which ESA jointly has the responsibility with INRA and Agrocampus Ouest. The unit’s project focuses on three topics:
Topic 1: Analysing agricultural practices, management plans and their evolution in relation to biodiversity and the multi-functionality of landscapes.
Topic 2: Supporting action to promote biodiversity and the multi-functionality of landscapes.
Topic 3: Cross-cutting landscape topic – a specific activity around methods, techniques, tools and concepts for the purpose of characterising, analysing and simulating in an integrated way this complex issue in support of multi-functionality.
For ESA, the team includes three individuals:
- 2 lecturer-researchers in ecology (GUILLAUME PAIN and JOSÉPHINE PYTHON-RIVAL LAIN); and
- 1 assistant: Frédérique PELLET

Study programmes
An important part of our teaching is directly fuelled by our research activities.
BAGAP is heavily involved in the engineering curriculum in teaching the majors “Plant production and agro-ecology” and “Environmental Integration and Sustainability”.
