Farming Production Management Systems (Level 2)

main objectives

After analysis of farm systems, the aim is to propose an evolution for crop systems (rotation, cultural practices…) linked to the farmer’s objectives and the characteristics of the farm studied. Propositions have to employ principles of agroecology as much as possible. Choice of cultivated species, cultural rotations according to agronomic risks and the associated cultural practices. Students must be able to assess the relevance of their proposals compared to the current system using multi-criteria assessment tools (with agronomic, economic, social and environmental indicators),,

general content

Pedagogy by project:,- group work for the design and evaluation of cultural systems (on the same farm as previous module) accompanied by a referent teacher. Theorical courses provide knowledge on the concept of cropping system and its management (management of organic soil matter, pest management, fertilization…), Multi-criteria analysis to evaluate durability of a farm system. ,- International conference: group work on a theme ‘agricultural issues’. This work is based on bibliographic research with a restitution in English using role play.,- An individual file based on the reading and analysis of a scientific article in English to enrich knowledge about a crop and the associated decision-rules of cultural practices. ,,"

evaluation

Exam + oral and synopsis on case studies + English (written – oral),,,,,,,
