Procedures for temporary residence during your stay in France - three cases :
1. Your are a citizen of the European Union or of an associated nation (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland) :
You do not require a 'carte de séjour' (residence permit).
All you need is a valid passport or valid national identity card.
However, if you are intending to get a job, then you will require a 'permis de séjour' in order to obtain a 'permis de travail temporaire' (temporary work permit) wherever you come from.
2. You are citizen of a candidate country to the European Union (Croatia, Turkey) :
- To stay in France less than 3 months : no 'carte de séjour' required.
All you need is a valid passport or a national identity card.
- To stay in France more than 3 months : one must have a passport and a student visa, 'type D', with the words 'carte de séjour à solliciter à l'arrivée' (which means you have to get a residence permit soon after your arrival in Angers).
3. You are NOT a citizen of one of the above countries :
- To stay in France less than 3 months : one must have a passport and a visa with the words 'dispensé temporaire de carte de séjour' (which means that for the time being you do not require a residence permit).
- To stay in France more than 3 months : one must have a passport and a student visa, 'type D', with the mention 'carte de séjour à solliciter à l'arrivée' (which means you have to get a residence permit soon after your arrival in Angers).

On arrival at ESA , you should have the following original documents which you brought with you from home (+ a photocopy of each document) :

Passport, valid for your length of stay + copy of the pages where are the number, the identity, the photograph, the dates of issue and validity, the visa.

Student visa,
'type D', with the mention
'carte de séjour à solliciter à l'arrivée'.

Proof of financial means :
a) If you are 'boursier', lie you have a scholarship : then the certificate or guarantee provided by the financial organisation.
b) If your are not 'boursier', lie you have not a scholarship : .
Own resources : a bank statement indicating that your personnal account will have 430 € each month, or
4 300 € each year at least.

Financial resources provided by a person living in France : a certificate (or signed letter) from that person attesting that she/he will assure your financial needs to the sum of 430 € per month or 4 300 € per year, accompanied by photocopies of the last three pay-slips + last income tax return.
ON ARRIVAL IN FRANCE, ONE HAS TO ADD : -
Four recent and identical passport rize photos (3,5 cm x 4,5 cm / black and white / full face, bare-headed).

Certificate of inscription to an ESA course and student identity card (provided by us).

Proof of residence in Angers :a) Lodging in a host French family : a certificate from your landlord + copy of his/her identity card and electricity bill less than 3 months old.
b) Lodging in student residence : a certificate from the director of the residence.
c) Own flat : contract of location dated of less than 3 months.

Stamped addressed envelope (to your address in Angers).

O.M.I. fiscal stamp to the value of 55 € which must be bought at the
'Prefecture'. Algerian citizens are exempted of buying this stamp.

Compulsory medical visit : you will be attended for a medical visit, including chest x-ray at the
O.M.I. ('Office des Migrations Internationales') in Nantes, during the three months following the application of your
'permis de séjour définitif' requirement.
